Prestigious historic dwelling in the center of medieval town of Monterchi in Valtiberina
This property is a 16th-century palace built partly into the fortified walls of Monterchi's main piazza. An astounding feature is its outdoor area built along the ramparts of the fortress overlooking both the town and the magnificent countryside. The grounds, accessed from the first floor, contain a furnished garden with a pool, a gazebo, a barbecue and a dozen of the owner's pet turtles. While the original floors, ceilings and fireplaces have been restored, the property is an aging beauty. Time has produced sloping floors and cracks here and there that blend with comfortable furnishings and beautiful antiques. Each bedroom has its own bath, and all have screens. This is non smoking. Four hours of mandatory maid service, every other day is payable locally. Evening meals can be requested when booking. Within a short walk is a trattoria, known for its fine wines. A five minute drive leads to restaurants, shops and a lively Sunday market

This apartment is in a great position for day trips, places like Arezzo, Cortona, Siena, Perugia, Assisi and San Sepolcro are only a short distance away. You are in the center of Italy, so even a quick trip to either coast is easy. This villa has been restored to maintain the rich history which surrounds it and is definitely a delightful place to stop and absorb the Tuscan history.
